WHY GAMING?
Did you know that over one third of the world’s population are active gamers? In addition to being a fun pastime, thousands of jobs are produced with every video game. In 2018, the global gaming market was valued at $134.9 billion, while the global box office only brought in $41.1 billion. Gaming is a massive economic force and jobs related to this industry are growing all the time. Videogames are also an integral part of youth culture. Many young adults cite gaming as their favorite hobby and the source of most of their friendships. Through gaming, young people can gain confidence, teamwork, problem solving, and leadership skills. In fact, colleges and universities are now offering Esports competitive teams and gaming as an extracurricular activity. Youth are interested in video games, and we need to help them be prepared to pursue these exciting opportunities. Scholars Collective is committed to fostering the academic growth, technological skills, and innovative leadership of young gamers in our community. |
